ROME, Ga. (April 30, 2018) – The caregiving team at Renaissance Marquis has been certified in an extensive Dementia and Alzheimer’s training program.
The training program was designed to equip caregivers in managing several characteristics of dementia residents: diagnosis, prognosis and treatment, nutrition, activities, paranoia and communication.
“Caring for persons with Alzheimer’s and dementia can be a daunting task at times. We want to provide the best possible care for both our residents and our team members. When training our team members, we teach them how to fully understand someone with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Only by understanding what these residents go through each day, can our team members be fully equipped to serve our residents with the highest quality of care,” said Renita Carnes, a certified practitioner through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners, who conducted the training. Carnes serves as the training coordinator for Legacy Senior Living, management company of Renaissance Marquis.
“Our mission is to serve the greatest generation with honor, respect, faith and integrity. Our memory care residents have the opportunity to live the best quality of life with our Purposeful Day™ activities program, our state-of-the art therapy programs and compassionate team. This certification process will only enhance our great care,” Blake Ray, executive director of Renaissance Marquis, said.
In celebration of every caregiving team member earning their certification, they all received a purple ribbon to attach to their name tag. The caregiving team was also given a purple t-shirt to wear on Thursdays to represent their completion of the Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia care training.
