Renaissance Marquis Residents and Staff Show Support to Veterans and Troops by Wearing Red Every Friday Since 2008
ROME, Ga. (July 19, 2016) – Renaissance Marquis residents, employees and family members have worn red every Friday since 2008 to show support for veterans and current troops. This support for the veterans who helped protect our country and establish freedom around the world has become a pillar of the Renaissance Marquis community.
“Six years ago we had a Veterans Day celebration and wore red in honor of all our veterans. The residents loved the idea of showing respect to not only our veterans, but to their family members, friends, spouses or parents who have served our country. Wearing red on Fridays quickly became a weekly routine for many in Renaissance Marquis’ extended family,” Renita Carnes, executive director of Renaissance Marquis, said.
Many Renaissance Marquis family members have also shared this tradition with other relatives and friends in the community, which has spread the practice throughout the Rome area.
“We can’t say ‘thank you’ enough to the ones who are currently serving and the ones that have served. This is just one way that we can express our gratitude towards these brave men and women,” Carnes said.
“We serve the greatest generation of Americans. In many ways, these traditionalists are the builders of the country that we enjoy today. They deserve honor and respect. I am proud of the Renaissance Marquis team for honoring them each week by wearing red,” Bryan Cook, Chief Operating Office of Legacy Senior Living, management company of Renaissance Marquis, said.
