A donation will be made to the North Georgia Regional Office of the Alzheimer’s Association, in support of Rome’s 2015 Walk to End Alzheimer’s, on Nov. 14
ROME, Ga. (November 9, 2015) – Renaissance Marquis retirement community announced it would donate proceeds totaling nearly $12,000 from its Third Annual Charlie Hyde Memorial for Alzheimer’s Awareness Golf Tournament, held on Sept. 18, at Cedartown’s Meadow Lakes Golf Club.
This donation will be made to the North Georgia Regional Office of the Alzheimer’s Association, in support of Rome’s 2015 Walk to End Alzheimer’s, on Nov. 14, said Jerry Justice, executive director of Renaissance Marquis.
“Renaissance Marquis and our parent company, Legacy Senior Services, are committed to supporting our local Alzheimer’s Association, and the national research they make possible,” Justice said. “Alzheimer’s and dementia are devastating illnesses, and we see first-hand the impact it has on families. We support the ongoing research to find a cure to this terrible disease, and as top memory care providers in Rome, GA, we would like nothing more than to be a part of finding a cure. This is our way of standing behind those who are on the front lines of research.”
His wife, JoAnn, is a long-time resident of the Renaissance Marquis community. When she was diagnosed with dementia, he became a strong advocate for Alzheimer’s research and memory care.
“The tournament was one of the best ways we could think of to honor Mr. Hyde, and combine two of his greatest passions later in life,” Justice said.
In just three years, the local tournament has raised nearly $40,000 for the local Alzheimer’s Association in Northwest Georgia, thanks to community participation and matching funds from Renaissance Marquis’ parent company, Legacy Senior Services.
This year’s corporate sponsors included Chick-fil-A, V3 Magazine, Talk Radio WLAQ 1410, Bojangles’, Farmers Insurance John Burnette, and Eagle Rock Distributing Co.
As many as 28 teams totaling 112 players participated, including Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord, Renaissance Marquis’ new medical director Dr. Jay Schecher, and members of the Hyde family.
